Punjabi Department

The Punjabi department of S.D.College was founded in 1956. At that time Punjabi compulsory and Punjabi literature were taught in the Bachelor of Arts classes only. With the passage of time Punjabi as a compulsory subject was introduced in other programs also like Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Computer Applications and Bachelor of Business Administration. In the year 2014 this department initiated post-graduation in Punjabi. Under the able guidance of well-qualified staff today our students after cracking national and state-level competitions are providing their services in the field of education. As this department is committed to connecting students to Punjabi language so we have established our own departmental library to facilitate students with 450-500 books on Punjabi literature so that their interest in Punjabi literature could be maintained. In addition to this various competitions like debate, poem recitation, story writing etc. are organised by the dept.
